We are Karen and Paul Marshallsay and we have lived at Odle Farm since March 2006 when we moved here from the New Forest with our two girls, Erin and Bryony, and Karen’s parents, Jeannette and Richard.
Right from the word go the view “wowed” us and still does every time we come home and turn the corner at the top of the lane. Guests often comment that you can “hear” the peace and quiet.
We feel lucky to have found such a beautiful part of the country to live, a friendly village with a real community feel, not far from the market town of Honiton for everyday essentials and both Taunton and Exeter within half an hour.
Being animal lovers, our menagerie has increased year on year, who would have guessed when we moved here that we would have chickens, sheep and cats as well as the pony and dogs we arrived with!
It has been an honour to have guests get engaged, honeymoon and then return each year for their family holidays with their growing families and pets. We also have regular guests that started staying as families and then make the most of the couples cottages once the children have flown the nest….or are old enough to leave home alone! Odle Farm is a special place to so many people and we have made some lovely friends over the years!

About Odle Farm
Nestling on the side of the tranquil Otter Valley in Devon’s beautiful Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our four comfortable cottages offer the perfect countryside escape for both couples and families wanting to spend quality time together.
If you can tear yourself away from the panoramic views that greet you in the morning, a short drive will take you to the bustling market town of Honiton. And you don’t have to venture much further to get to the Jurassic coast – the stylish resort town of Sidmouth or the beach and famous Cobb harbour at Lyme Regis are both less than 30 minutes away.
Our cottages are surrounded by ten acres of gardens and fields, which you are welcome to explore, the friendly sheep (and lambs if you time it right) love to meet our guests as do Arthur and Tommy our two cats who are always looking for a cuddle. They do seem to know if you have a dog though and keep out of the way! (Willow and Wisteria are our dog-friendly properties).
The whole area is abundant with wildlife with so many species of birds. Buzzards are often seen and heard soaring overhead, (keep an eye on the telegraph poles when going up and down our lane), and the house martins put on a fantastic display as they fly back and forth to their nests around our courtyard during the summer months. Deer, foxes and pheasants are a common sight in the fields around us and you may be lucky enough to follow a badger or hare up the lane.
There are miles of footpaths and bridleways you can access from your front door, ideal for dog walking, and the cottages are equipped with everything you need to make your stay relaxing – from comfortable beds, toasty wood burners (Wisteria and Jasmine) and of course the hot tubs and games room.
No matter which cottage you choose you can expect a warm friendly welcome on arrival and then we will leave you to enjoy your holiday in peace…….unless, of course, you want a chat or more information, recommendations on the local area in which case come and find us.

Upottery
Upottery is a picturesque village near Honiton situated in the valley of the River Otter, from which it derives its name. The northern boundary of the parish lies on the border between Devon and Somerset.
The village has a beautiful church, parts of which date back to the 12th century, a thriving pub, The Sidmouth Arms and is a lovely area for walking and cycling.
The former World War II airfield of RAF Upottery (also known as Smeatharpe) is located near the village, The Upottery Heritage Centre documents the major role this historic airfield played during the D-day operations of June 1944 and the bravery of the men who flew from Upottery.
